How to choose
The first choice is size. The 27 mm cam cleat suits lines from 3 to 7 mm and mounts with M4 fasteners on a 27 mm hole spacing. The 38 mm cam cleat suits lines from 4 to 12 mm and mounts with M5 fasteners on a 38 mm hole spacing. Match the cleat to the line diameter you are running. A cleat that is too large for the line will not grip reliably, and one that is too small will jam.
Within each size, choose between aluminium cams and composite cams. Aluminium cams provide more grip under high load and are better suited to sheets, halyards and heavily loaded control lines. Composite cams are lighter and suit trim lines where load is moderate and weight matters more than grip. Both cam types use the same mounting pattern within each size, so they are interchangeable on the same base fitting.
All cam cleats in this collection are from the Seldén Mk2 range, current from 2022. If you are replacing an older Seldén cam cleat, verify the hole spacing before ordering as the Mk2 pattern may differ from earlier generations.
For swivel-mounted versions, choose the mounting type that matches your installation. The deck swivel suits mainsheet leads where the cleat needs to pivot with the trimmer. The mast swivel suits lines running from the mast including cunningham, gennaker halyard and gnav. The eye swivel suits control lines close to the deck such as jib sheets and vang on each side of the coachroof.
Installation accessories let you optimise the cleat angle and line entry for your deck layout. If the cleat will be used without a separate block, a top guide or bulls eye fitting helps the line enter the cams cleanly. A fairlead with stainless lining suits applications where the line runs in from an angle. A line guide aligns the line entering from forward. A riser raises the cleat body by 15 mm. A wedge kit tilts the cleat at 10° for better rope alignment on a sloped surface. Nut recesses give a cleaner finish to the installation.
