Seldén PBB40 40 mm plain bearing blocks for heavy and static load applications on dinghies, including halyard tuning, mainsheet systems and boom vangs, available in swivel, strap and fiddle variants for lines up to 8 mm.
How to choose
The PBB40 is suited to applications where load is high but the line moves slowly or infrequently. Typical uses are halyard tuning systems, boom vangs and kicker tackles where the control is adjusted and then held under sustained load. The polymer sheave and stiff glass fibre reinforced cheeks prevent the line from jamming under these conditions. For applications where the line runs frequently and friction matters, the BBB40 ball bearing range is the more appropriate choice.
Choose the attachment type to match your fitting point. The swivel variants lock the shackle at 0° or 90° and suit applications where the lead angle may vary. The strap version attaches with a shackle or line through the fixed stainless strap. Add a becket when the standing end of a purchase system anchors to the block.
The fiddle swivel variant combines a large and small sheave in one block body, providing a built-in purchase ratio in a compact unit without needing two separate blocks. It suits vang and kicker systems where space is limited and a modest mechanical advantage is needed.
