How to choose
System 22 uses a 22 mm wide aluminium track profile and is designed for keelboats and larger dinghies where System 15 is undersized. Before ordering, confirm your boat uses System 22. Cars from System 15 and System 22 are not interchangeable.
All System 22 track in this collection uses a pinstop profile where a spring-loaded plunger on the car drops into indexed holes in the track, holding the car at a set position without needing to hold it under load. There are two pinstop spacings. Standard pinstop track has 50 mm between trim positions, which suits most jib sheet lead applications on keelboats. Racing pinstop track has 25 mm between trim positions for finer adjustment, useful on performance boats where small changes in jib sheet lead position affect upwind VMG. Both track types use M5 fasteners with 100 mm hole spacing and are compatible with the same System 22 pinstop cars.
For jib cars, the choice depends on your application. The keelboat jib car (442-150-01) is a composite pinstop car with a BBB40 tie-on block and a dead-end through the forward end of the car, providing a 2:1 jib sheet purchase without a winch. This is designed for keelboat sailors who want direct trim control. The tie-on car (442-143-01) is a lighter aluminium car with Torlon ball bearings for boats such as the Solo and Finn where a low friction ring or tie-on block is the preferred sheet lead arrangement.
The System 22 main car (442-144-01) is specific to catamaran mainsheet systems. It has a pivoting bracket with plain bearing sheaves for control lines and a stainless eyestrap for the mainsheet tackle, and is referenced for the Dart 16, RS Cat14 and RS Cat16.
What's in this collection
Standard pinstop track has 50 mm between trim positions and is available in 1000 mm (442-002-01), 1200 mm (442-002-02) and 1500 mm (442-002-03). All are 22 mm wide, 13 mm high and mount with M5 screws on 100 mm hole spacing.
Racing pinstop track has 25 mm between trim positions for finer adjustment and is available in 300 mm (442-004-01), 500 mm (442-004-03) and 1000 mm (442-004-04). Construction and fastener spacing are the same as standard pinstop track.
The System 22 keelboat jib car (442-150-01) is a composite pinstop car with a BBB40 tie-on block attached by Dyneema lashing. The dead-end through the forward end of the car provides 2:1 purchase on the jib sheet. Suited to keelboats and larger dinghies where instant trim without a winch is the goal.
The System 22 tie-on car (442-143-01) is a black anodised aluminium car with Torlon ball bearings, designed to carry a low friction ring or tie-on block. Specifically referenced for the Solo and Finn classes.
The System 22 main car (442-144-01) is a black anodised aluminium car with Torlon ball bearings and a pivoting bracket with plain bearing sheaves. Referenced for catamaran mainsheet systems on the Dart 16, RS Cat14 and RS Cat16.
The System 22 end stop (442-105) is glass fibre reinforced polyamide and closes off the track end. The hole in the end stop provides a termination point for a control line.
