Seldén wire terminals and mast attachment fittings for dinghy standing rigging: T-terminals, fork terminals, eye terminals and threaded swage terminals for ø2mm to ø4mm wire, with backing plates, shroud attachment plates, forestay tangs and lacing eyes for mast-side connections.
How to choose
This collection covers two related groups: wire terminals that fit to the end of standing rigging wire, and mast fittings that the terminals connect to. The correct combination depends on wire diameter, the fitting at the mast and the fitting at the chainplate or deck.
For wire terminals, the choice depends on how the wire end connects at the chainplate, deck fitting or mast tang. T-terminals slot into a backing plate on the mast and are the most common system for dinghy lower shrouds and 2:1 jib halyards where a clean, low-profile connection through the mast wall is needed. They are available for ø2mm, ø2.5mm, ø3mm and ø4mm wire. Seldén T-terminals must only be used with Seldén backing plates. Mixing Seldén terminals with non-Seldén backing plates, or vice versa, is a severe safety risk. The T-terminal retaining plug reduces accidental disengagement and limits water ingress during a capsize.
Fork terminals provide a clevis pin connection and suit chainplates and tangs with a pin hole. Available for ø2.5mm, ø3mm (6.5mm pin) and ø4mm (8mm pin) wire. Eye terminals are swaged fittings with a round hole for a shackle or clevis pin, available for ø2.5mm and ø3mm wire. The slotted eye terminal for ø4mm wire has an 8mm x 18mm slot rather than a round hole, allowing a shackle head to pass through for direct wire-to-shackle connections. This is commonly used on catamarans where multiple wires, including forestay, shrouds and trapeze, are stacked on a single bow shackle at the mast cap tang.
Threaded swage terminals fit into the barrel of a rigging screw and are available in 1/4" right-hand thread for ø3mm and ø4mm wire, and 5/16" right-hand thread for ø4mm wire. Match the thread size to your rigging screw.
Before modifying or replacing any standing rigging terminal, confirm the correct wire diameter and terminal type for your class with your boat manufacturer or class association.
What's in this collection
T-terminals are available for ø2mm (308-373), ø2.5mm (308-372), ø3mm (308-321) and ø4mm (308-322) wire. The ø3mm terminal has an 8-degree angle and a maximum lateral shroud angle of 20 degrees. All must be used with Seldén backing plates only. The T-terminal retaining plug (530-230) inserts into the backing plate after the terminal is engaged to reduce disengagement risk and water ingress.
Fork terminals are available for ø2.5mm (308-580), ø3mm (308-311-01, 6.5mm pin) and ø4mm (308-312-01, 8mm pin) wire.
Eye terminals are swaged and available for ø2.5mm (308-370, 5.5mm hole) and ø3mm (308-301, 6.5mm hole) wire. The slotted eye terminal for ø4mm wire (308-499) has an 8mm x 18mm slot for stacking multiple wire ends on a single bow shackle, used on catamarans.
Threaded swage terminals are available in 1/4" right-hand thread for ø3mm (308-344) and ø4mm (308-408) wire, and 5/16" right-hand thread for ø4mm wire (308-345).
Mast attachment fittings include the backing plate for ø2–3mm T-terminals (507-597-01), T-terminal mast tang (518-089-01), lower shroud attachment plate for T-terminals (518-080-01) and for shackles/forks (518-080-02), forestay tang (517-921-01, heavy-duty pressed and welded, 4 fastener points, 6mm hole), vertical eye triangle base cast stainless (558-002-01, 3 fastener points), stainless eye plate (534-525-04), stainless lacing eye (508-089-01, 26mm centres, M5 or 4.8mm rivets) and simple lacing eye (508-476-01, for light-duty non-load-bearing applications).
Dinghy class applications
The slotted eye terminal (308-499) is specifically referenced for catamaran rigs where forestay, shrouds and trapeze wires are stacked on a single bow shackle at the mast cap tang.
