How to choose
The mast heel is the fitting at the base of the mast that locates in the mast step. All heels in this collection are section-specific. The first step is to identify your mast section. Common Seldén dinghy sections include C, D+, E, Lambda, Kappa, Zeta, Cumulus, Alto, Epsilon, Gamma, 2420 and the carbon S1, S2, S3 and Orbis series. Check the label on your mast or contact Seldén if you are unsure.
Once you know your section, choose the heel type. The tenon heel is the standard option for most classes. It provides a fixed mast foot that locates in the step and is supplied with a section-specific adapter and fixing screws. The sheave heel routes halyards internally through the mast base, emerging via sheaves in the heel body. Five-sheave heels have 3 aft-facing composite sheaves and 2 forward. Six-sheave heels have 4 aft-facing composite sheaves and 2 forward. On all sheave heels, the forward-facing sheaves can be upgraded to the 504-109 stainless ball bearing sheave for reduced friction. Six-sheave heels are compatible with both the composite and heavy-duty aluminium mast steps.
The hinged heel suits boats where the mast is raised and lowered regularly, such as trailered boats. It must be used with the hinged mast step (510-158-01). Hinged heels are available for Epsilon, Zeta/Cumulus/Alto and Kappa sections. The rotating heel suits classes where the mast rotates and fits a wide range of sections including Kappa, Zeta, Cumulus, Alto, Epsilon, Gamma, D+ and carbon S3/S4/Orbis. The square heels are class-specific plug fittings for the Mirror and Cadet (fitting 2420 and Lambda sections) and the GP14 (fitting Zeta, Cumulus and Alto sections). The catamaran mast step (510-206-01) is a cast stainless ø40 ball fitting for rotating catamaran rigs on W143 and W095 sections.

Each is supplied with a section-specific adapter and 3 fixing screws.
Five-sheave heels are available for C (502-513-03), Lambda (502-514-03) and heavy-duty E section for the Wayfarer class (502-639-03). The Wayfarer version uses an aluminium adapter specifically designed to resist the bending loads from a tabernacle pin.
Six-sheave heels are available for Epsilon (502-504-03), Zeta/Cumulus/Alto (502-506-03), Kappa (502-507-03), D+ (502-510-03) and carbon S3 (502-551-06). Each is supplied with a section-specific adapter and 3 fixing screws.
Hinged heels are available for Epsilon (502-503-04), Zeta/Cumulus/Alto (502-506-04) and Kappa (502-507-04). Each must be paired with the hinged mast step (510-158-01).
The rotating mast heel (502-140) is cast aluminium and fits Kappa, Zeta, Cumulus, Alto, Epsilon, Gamma, D+ and carbon S3/S4/Orbis sections.
Square heels are available for Mirror and Cadet (502-162-01, fits 2420 and Lambda sections) and GP14 (502-574-01, fits Zeta/Cumulus/Alto sections).
The catamaran mast step (510-206-01) is a cast stainless steel ø40 ball step for rotating catamaran rigs on W143 and W095 sections, supplied with 4 fixing rivets.
Replacement sheaves include the ø21/4.2-9 composite masthead and forward sheave heel version (504-360), the ø21/4.2-9 composite for boom end fittings and central aft positions in 6-sheave heels (504-361) and the ø35/8-10 composite for boom ends, keelboat heels and single-line reef systems (504-362). Shafts for sheave heels: 4mm x 32mm forward (166-220) and 8mm x 48mm aft (166-219), both locked with the shaft retaining clip (502-521).
Dinghy class applications
The 5-sheave heavy-duty heel (502-639-03) is specifically designed for the Wayfarer class with an aluminium adapter to handle tabernacle pin bending loads.
The square heel for Mirror and Cadet (502-162-01) fits 2420 and Lambda sections. The square heel for GP14 (502-574-01) fits Zeta, Cumulus and Alto sections.
