How to choose
A swaged eye terminal is swaged onto the wire end and provides a fixed round eye for connection to a shackle, clevis pin or chainplate. Choose the terminal to match your wire diameter. The ø2.5mm terminal has a 5.5mm hole. The ø3mm terminal has a 6.5mm hole. Match the hole diameter to the pin or shackle you are connecting to.
The slotted eye terminal for ø4mm wire is a different design. It has an 8mm x 18mm slot rather than a round hole, allowing the head of a shackle to pass through the fitting. This permits multiple wires to be stacked on a single bow shackle at the mast cap tang, which is common on catamarans where the forestay, shrouds and trapeze wires all connect to the same fitting. It is not a general-purpose replacement for a round eye terminal and should only be used where stacking on a single shackle is the intended arrangement.
