The difference is in how they mount. The side-fixing type attaches to the side of the mast with two rivets and is the simpler installation for most boats. The collar type wraps around the mast and fastens with four rivets, providing a more secure fit where the mast is subject to significant lateral movement in the gate.

The wear pad, collar type (507-337-01) is a black anodised aluminium collar supplied complete with 4 fixing rivets. It provides the same protection as the side-fixing version with a full-collar mounting for greater stability in the mast gate.
