The boom end deck protector (511-804) is a nylon pad that clicks into the lower track at the outboard end of the boom. When the mainsail is hoisted or lowered, the boom tip can drag across the deck or coaming. The protector cushions this contact and prevents the boom end from scratching paint and gelcoat.
The boom wear pad (507-547R) is an ultra-thin stainless steel strip with a self-adhesive backing. It is applied to the boom at the point where the shrouds bear against it, protecting the anodised finish from the abrasion caused by repeated shroud contact. It is particularly useful on boats where the shrouds lie across the boom when the sail is lowered.
