Kicker and vang attachment fittings for dinghy masts and booms, mast-side strap eyes and cast eyes by section, boom-side sliding eyes, heavy-duty blocks and brackets for the boom track, the ILCA hi-load kicker bracket, plus an outhaul on/off lever for spinnaker-equipped boats.
How to choose
A kicker or vang system needs two attachment points: one on the mast and one on the boom. This collection covers both. Mast-side fittings are section-specific. Boom-side fittings mount in the lower boom track and must carry the full compression load of the kicker system.
For the mast-side fitting, choose the strap eye or cast eye that matches your mast section. The strap eye for C/D+/E sections (508-474-01) and the strap eye for Lambda/Kappa/Zeta/Cumulus/Alto/Epsilon sections (508-488-01) are the standard heavy-duty stainless fittings for aluminium masts. The cast eye for carbon S2/S3 sections (508-508-30-01) is the correct fitting for those carbon spars. The U-bolt (508-478-01) passes through the mast track wall and suits installations where a track-mounted attachment point is preferred. The ILCA hi-load kicker bracket (508-404-01R) is a specific upgrade for ILCA masts developed with the class association to address fatigue and cracking at the traditional pressed fitting. The Snipe plate (508-486-01) provides extra mast stiffness at deck level for Snipe class masts.
For the boom-side fitting, the choice is between a sliding eye and a heavy-duty block or bracket. The sliding eye (511-714-03) is the basic option, secured in the track with two clamp plates and suitable for use with high-load blocks such as the BBB25. The heavy-duty kicker block (511-664-12) replaces a sliding eye with a 25mm ball bearing sheave built into a 112mm cast stainless body. Its greater length spreads the load over more of the boom track, reducing boom bending at the attachment point. The heavy-duty kicker bracket (511-779-12) is a 150mm cast stainless bracket with smooth bearing surfaces for a shackled high-load block or a soft attach block, now fitted as standard to many new Seldén booms.
What's in this collection
Mast-side fittings: strap eye for C/D+/E masts (508-474-01), strap eye for Lambda/Kappa/Zeta/Cumulus/Alto/Epsilon masts (508-488-01), cast eye for carbon S2/S3 masts (508-508-30-01), U-bolt through mast track (508-478-01), Snipe class plate (508-486-01) and ILCA hi-load kicker bracket (508-404-01R). All mast-side fittings are supplied with fixing rivets.
The sliding kicker/vang eye (511-714-03) is a stainless steel eye for the boom track, supplied with 2 bolts and 2 clamp plates. For use with high-load blocks such as the BBB25.
The heavy-duty kicker/vang block (511-664-12) is a cast stainless steel fitting with a 25mm ball bearing sheave, 112mm long. Its length distributes kicker loads over a greater area of the boom track than a sliding eye, reducing the risk of local boom damage. Supplied with 2 clamp plates.
The heavy-duty kicker/vang bracket (511-779-12) is a 150mm cast stainless bracket designed to carry a shackled block such as BBB25 or a soft attach block such as S40+. Fitted as standard to many current Seldén booms. Supplied with 2 clamp plates.
The outhaul on/off lever (511-239-01) is a lightweight aluminium lever for an on/off outhaul system, mounted at the inboard boom end. It allows the crew to release and tension the outhaul quickly when hoisting or lowering the spinnaker.
Dinghy class applications
The ILCA hi-load kicker bracket (508-404-01R) was developed with the ILCA Class Association specifically for ILCA masts, replacing the traditional pressed fitting that was prone to fatigue and cracking under high kicker loads.
The Snipe plate (508-486-01) is designed specifically for the Snipe class to provide additional stiffness at deck level on all Seldén Snipe masts.
