How to choose
A low friction ring is a black anodised aluminium ring with a large inner radius and an outer slot for attachment of a line or rubber cord. It is simpler, lighter and less expensive than a plain bearing block and suits applications where load is predominantly static and the line moves slowly or infrequently. It is not suited to dynamic applications where the line runs continuously at speed — a ball bearing block is the correct choice for those.
Typical applications are backstay cascades, barber haulers, kicker tackles, vang systems and any other arrangement where a line needs to be redirected or a purchase system built around a light and compact fitting. The outer slot allows the ring to be attached to a fixed point with a lashing or rubber cord rather than requiring a shackle.
Choose size by line diameter. The ø12 mm outer ring suits lines up to 3 mm. The ø18 mm ring suits lines up to 5 mm. The ø25 mm ring suits lines up to 7 mm. The ø35 mm ring suits lines up to 10 mm. The ø50 mm ring suits lines up to 14 mm. The ø70 mm ring suits lines up to 20 mm.
