Description

This version is our standard Solo D+ spar with an extended gooseneck. This effectively loosens the foot without using the outhaul and allows the boom to square off further when running. Note, the boom black band will need to be re-positioned. Seldén D+ has dominated the Solo class for many years. The older design of section has unique bend characteristics that ideally suit the Solo. Compared to ')modern') sections such as Cumulus, it is relatively softer sideways. It also starts to bend sideways at an earlier angle, just as the sailors becomes over powered. Our D+ section also has a dedicated Solo taper that produces a longer and more even bend that better supports the roach. This version has a short, 180mm sleeve at deck that does not affect stiffness but supports the section from local loading at the mast gate. All D+ section is extruded from Seldén XPS aluminum. This unique material, alloyed specifically for Seldén, provides higher tensile strength than other grades. It was originally developed for the Solo where the higher UTS reduces the risk of spars taking a permanent bend. This mast is supplied complete and ready to race. A halyard lock can be fitted by one of our expert dealers.
